Cancellation Prevention - Variant Swap, Combined Offers, Free Gift Offers, and Gaming Prevention - General Release

Cancellation Prevention Early Adopter Programs have been generally released for all eligible stores. Recharge has been working on several enhancements to Cancellation Prevention. Cancellation Prevention allows you to create unique win back and churn mitigation strategies to prevent customer churn.

The following Cancellation Prevention updates have been released:

  • Variant Swap: Merchants often use the Swap product offer type to retain customers attempting to cancel by allowing them to exchange their current product for another. This option is highly effective for reasons such as “I no longer need the product” or “I do not like the product.” Customers are presented with a gallery of products to choose from, along with options for variant, frequency, and quantity changes.
  • Combined Offers: Merchants have expressed the need for more meaty offers to experiment and personalize with. While single offers have been beneficial, combining multiple offers can better address customer concerns and enhance retention efforts. The new Combined Offers allows merchants to configure predefined combined offers, starting with Delay AND Discount, Delay AND Free Gift, and Delay AND Swap, to provide more versatile/attractive incentives during the cancellation process.
  • Free Gift Offers: Free Gift Offers as a cancellation prevention offer provides a meaningful alternative that offers the attractiveness of a monetary incentive without directly impacting the pricing structure. Free gifts serve as an engaging way to retain customers by adding value to their subscription, increasing product awareness, and creating opportunities for future upsells or cross-sells. This approach allows merchants to retain customers while promoting their product lineup and encouraging longer-term engagement.
  • Gaming Prevention: The new Gaming Prevention feature allows merchants to define offer time limits at the survey level. If a customer has claimed a monetary offer within the specified time frame, they will be presented with a fallback offer, such as a skip, instead. This feature prevents abuse without revealing the time limits to the customer, encouraging fairness and integrity in the cancellation prevention process.
