New and Improved Subscription Widget Now Available for All Shopify Stores

The new Subscription Widget is now accessible to all Shopify merchants, bringing an improved subscription experience directly within Recharge. All stores now have access to the Subscription Widget along with base analytics to track performance.

If you were previously using our Subscription Widget, you may have noticed a major change—the settings for this feature are now located in Recharge instead of Shopify. This shift allows us to introduce more features in the future and provide deeper insights into your widget’s performance.

Pro and Custom stores gain additional benefits, including A/B testing for optimizing conversions and more detailed analytics for deeper insights.

For full details on this exciting new feature, check out the documentation here.

Offer Rewards on one-time purchases - General release

You can now reward customers with credits on one-time only checkouts. Give credits on one-time purchases to incentivize repeat buying, or make credits subscription-only to provide more motivation to convert to a subscriber.

With this new Rewards strategy, engage a broader range of customers, create a new funnel for subscription acquisition, and further consolidate your tech stack. Create a flow that triggers for all one-time only checkout orders, even if they don’t include a subscription. Additionally, customers who make one-time only checkouts (without ever having a subscription) are now created in Recharge along with their checkout order history!

See Reward Strategies: How to offer Rewards on one-time purchases to all customers for more information along with step-by-step configuration instructions.

Cancellation Prevention for stores on the Standard Plan

We have released a Standard Plan Version of Cancellation Prevention to allow you to utilize one of our key retention features.

Cancellation Prevention allows you to create unique win back and churn mitigation strategies to prevent customer churn. Previously, Cancellation Prevention was only available to stores on Pro and Custom Plans. Now, stores on the Standard Plan can utilize Cancellation Prevention with limited functionality. See Key features for a full list of available features when using the Cancellation Prevention experience for stores on the Standard plan.

Additionally, you can reference How to build a Cancellation Prevention experience for stores on the Standard plan for step-by-step configuration instructions.

Upcoming changes to the ‘Create order always (do not check for inventory, and do not reduce inventory)’ order processing setting

On March 6th, 2025 we will deprecate the "Create order always (do not check for inventory, and do not reduce inventory)" order processing setting, as orders created on Shopify will always reduce inventory.

Stores with this setting enabled will automatically switch to the "Create order always (and reduce inventory)" setting.

To learn more about order processing settings, see Handling product inventory.

Upcoming changes to the “Create order only if inventory is available” order processing setting

Starting March 6th, 2025 we will begin rolling out optimizations to how inventory is handled for one-time products, as well as product incentives and free gifts added through Recharge Subscription Experiences.

Current behavior:

When the order processing setting “Create order only if inventory is available (and reduce inventory)” is enabled, Recharge only creates the subscription order if there is available inventory in Shopify. If inventory is not available, the order is marked with an inventory error.

Until now, this behavior has only applied to subscription products. Currently, one time products, free gifts, and incentive products do not follow inventory rules configured in Recharge and will always process, even if they are out of stock.

What’s changing?

Starting March 6th we will begin rolling out optimizations to how inventory is handled. One time products, free gifts, and incentive products billed through Shopify will follow the inventory setting rules and only process if there is inventory in Shopify. If you want these products to continue selling when out of stock, you can adjust the setting to “Continue selling when out of stock” in Shopify.

To learn more about order processing settings, see Handling product inventory.

Upsell All line items at checkout

Merchants that use Checkout Upsell can now choose to Upsell all line items at once - and it's mobile-friendly 🎉

This update:

  • Greatly improves visibility for mobile traffic, as the app block can be placed at the top of the page
  • Highlights the potential savings if converted of all line items, encouraging customers to make the move
  • Reduces the number of clicks - just one to make all eligible items a subscription

Check out our documentation and see the GIF below to learn more.

Add previously churned customers to Win Back drip campaigns

You can now add previously churned customers to your Win Back drip campaigns.

Previously, only customers who churned after a flow was created were eligible for a drip campaign. With this update, you can choose how far back you want to go, giving you more flexibility to re-engage past customers.

This enhancement broadens your reach and maximizes your chances of winning back customers who churned before you launched win back strategies.

For more information, see How can I add churned customers to active drip campaigns? and How to set up a Win Back drip campaign.

The 'Duplicate' flow action has moved locations

The 'Duplicate' flow action has moved from the flow list view to directly in your flow canvas. You can now duplicate existing flows without navigating back to your flow list.

The ability to duplicate a flow allows you to iterate quickly by making minor tweaks and adjust existing strategies. With this update, when you duplicate a flow, you are immediately redirected to the new canvas. See Manage flows for the updated directions to duplicate your existing flows.
