Updating payload properties due to Klaviyo’s new API payload size limit of 100KB

We are updating our payload properties due to Klaviyo’s new API payload size limit of 100KB.

To stay within this limit, we are introducing two adjustments. These adjustments will only be applied when a payload would otherwise exceed 100KB.

1. Limit on line_items within charges

We will now cap the number of line_items in each charge to 15. For example, if an event contains 5 charges and each charge has 20 line_items, only the first 15 line_items for each charge will be included in the rc_queued_charges custom property.

2. Limit on subscriptions

We will now include a maximum of 25 subscriptions in the payload. For example, if an event contains 30 subscriptions, only the first 25 will be included in the rc_all_subscriptions custom property.

These updates ensure that events and customer properties stay under the 100KB limit and continue to sync reliably with Klaviyo. We expect minimal impact on merchants and anticipate that nearly all events will continue to sync as usual.

These changes are now reflected in our help center.

Cancellation Prevention APIs Now Available

Cancellation Prevention APIs are now available to all merchants, allowing you to build fully custom, on‑brand cancellation experiences while leveraging Recharge’s backend decisioning, analytics, and configuration.

This update solves the problem of custom portals being unable to use Recharge’s cancellation logic and reporting: you can now keep your unique design and UX while calling Recharge to determine which cancellation reasons and recovery offers to show, and record customer responses and outcomes for accurate analytics.

If you're interested in using these APIs, please contact your account manager

Free gift APIs Now Available

Free gift APIs are now publicly available for all stores with Rewards access — allowing you build custom loyalty integrations.

Previously, free gifts in Recharge were limited to being rewarded after customers hit a certain order threshold. With our Add/Remove Free gift API endpoints, you can programmatically award or remove gifts based on any behavior or event — like a product review, social post, survey completion, or loyalty milestone.

For more information, please see our API Reference.

Credits APIs Now Available

Credits APIs are now publicly available for merchants & tech partners.

Previously, credits could only be applied manually in the portal or automatically through Rewards flows, which limited ways you could reward and engage your customers. With the Credit Account and Credit Adjustment endpoints, you can now issue, track, and manage credits programmatically to power custom experiences (for example, rewarding reviews, shares, or other engagement), and partners can integrate credit-based incentives into their tools.

Note: Apps using these endpoints can only be installed on stores that have access to Rewards.

Developer documentation and API references are available here.

Add free gift action on Customer details page

A new “Add free gift” action is now available on the Upcoming orders section of the Customer details page, allowing customer support teams to add or remove free gifts for individual customers. Available with the Retain add-on.

This eliminates previous workarounds like running a Bulk update or using Test Flow, which customer support users often couldn’t access. You can now directly add a gift to a single customer’s upcoming order, set whether they keep the gift if they skip the order, or delete an existing free gift when needed — making it easier to delight your customers without relying on monetary discounts.

For more information about adding free gifts to upcoming orders, consult our help center.

Charge → Discount condition added to Rewards Flows

A new condition is now live in Rewards Flows that allows you to determine if a processed order contains a specific discount code.

This update fixes a gap where you couldn’t natively detect whether a processed order used a specific discount code, which made multi-order free-gift promotions and code-triggered rewards hard to set up. With the new condition, you can build flows that check processed orders for a particular discount code so you can reward your customers across multiple orders, trigger code-specific cashback, or send notifications when a code is used.

For more information about the Rewards, consult our help center.

New Early Adopter Program - Quantity Upsells

Quantity Upsells are now available via our Early Adopter Program for merchants who want to offer plan-based quantity discounts and simplify SKU management. Available to Shopify stores on our Affinity customer portal.

Quantity Upsells let merchants create subscription plans that encourage larger quantities at deeper discounts (for example: 1 unit every month at 5% off, 3 units every 3 months at 15% off). This use case was previously solved by using separate SKUs or variants, which complicates inventory, logistics configuration, and adding new products. This feature can increase average order value, reduce low-margin shipments, and help merchants recover acquisition costs faster.

Interested merchants can request access on our roadmap.

New Early Adopter Program - AI Report emails

AI Report emails are now available via our Early Adopter Program, and can be enabled by any Shopify store.

AI Reports deliver AI-composed monthly summaries that distill multiple analytics dashboards into concise insights and prioritized recommendations, so you spend less time compiling reports and more time acting on what matters.

Available Reports:
  • Sales & subscribers report: Provides an executive summary of top-line subscription program performance, including subscriber growth, subscriber churn, and subscription sales & revenue. Compares monthly performance with historical performance, as well as industry benchmarks. Provides recommendations based on the areas of greatest potential improvement.
  • Payment errors & recovery report: Summarizes payment error and recovery activity for the month. Identifies and analyzes error spikes and trends within the period. Provides recommendations on ways to improve recovery efforts.

Email preference management: All Shopify stores can now manage their preferences for who should receive which AI emails from within the Email section, on the "Store owner" tab. Preference management links are also included in the footer of each email. For more information about AI Reports, consult our help center.

Subscription Shipping Profiles are now compatible with Bundles

We’re excited to share that Bundles are now compatible with Subscription shipping profiles!

Previously, when using Subscription shipping profiles with Bundles, some bundle orders pulled a combination of rates from both the subscription and general shipping profiles, which could lead to incorrect or unexpected shipping costs. With this update, bundle orders will now reliably use the subscription shipping profile, ensuring accurate and predictable shipping rates

Notes:

  • This enhancement only applies if all bundle contents have selling plans. If your bundle includes any items that are available as a one-time purchase only, those bundles may still display incorrect shipping rates.
  • Stores already using Bundles and Subscription shipping profiles will start seeing corrected rates applied automatically on future orders after the next billing cycle.

For more information on how to configure Subscription shipping profiles, see Creating a custom shipping profile for the Shopify Checkout Integration.
