Improved Handling of Charge Regeneration in the API

Our improved regeneration process will ensure the accuracy of the data updates made to your charges, as additional safeguards have been implemented to prevent modifications to a subscription during a regeneration.



When attempting to make changes during a regeneration you will now receive a “409 Error - Route Lock” error when attempting updates, and should consider this change in any API calls you are making.

A regeneration will occur when modifying any object that could affect charges via the API, including but not limited to: Address, Customer, Subscription and Charge updates.

January Product Updates

Here's what our Product team got up to in January:



Orders

  • Automatic Order Merge is now generally released!


Analytics

  • Analytics v2 overview dashboards are now generally released! These dashboards replace our legacy "Revenue - Overview," "Customers - Overview" and "Subscriptions - Overview" dashboards with modernized versions, built on our new V2 analytics platform.
  • Analytics enhancements: “Display by week/month/quarter” and “Show comparison data” graph toggle: All V2 analytics dashboards can now leverage a pair of new visualization tools to create powerful views of historical data, including clear and intuitive year over year reports and more.


Bundles

  • Bundles now support one-time plans: Now, merchants can offer one-time bundles at discounted prices in Affinity.
  • Streamlined Cart Experience: Now, merchants can easily adjust their cart to show the dynamic bundles as a single line item in the cart without any custom code. 


Subscriber experiences [Flows]

  • Updated trigger node and flow settings: the trigger node has a refreshed design, and AND/OR functionality is supported when building the trigger condition. 
  • Notification node improvement: The notification node has a "preview notification" button that when clicked, opens a modal and renders the body of the email right on the page.


Gift subscriptions

  • Merchants can now configure a 'Send as a Gift' button to their product pages, code-free
  • Merchants can now choose to include taxes in the prices of gifted subscriptions.

  • New Affinity Docs: We’ve overhauled the Affinity docs to streamline information delivery, ensuring users get what they need without drowning in details.

Embed customer portal magic links in Upcoming Order emails with Klaviyo

Make it easy for customers to manage their subscription when they have an upcoming order. 



Order upcoming on ReCharge event metric now includes the event property customer_portal_link which you can use to dynamically embed “magic links” i.e. direct customer portal links into customer emails. All you have to do is put this event property variable {{ event.customer_portal_link|default:'' }} inside a button, image, or clickable text. 

This way, customers no longer need to remember login credentials to modify their subscription upon receiving the upcoming order email.

Adjust the delivery frequency for product swaps using the Product Swap Quick Action URL

Products have varying delivery frequency needs. For instance, a daily cleanser should be delivered more frequently than a weekly hair mask. Similarly, a larger product size should be delivered less often compared to a smaller one.



Now, you have the option to specify a different delivery frequency when making product swap recommendations through Quick Action URLs. If you don't specify a new frequency in the URL, it will automatically default to the frequency of the product in the current subscription.

New Custom Properties in Klaviyo: Segment active customers, canceled or expired subscriptions based on Product title in Klaviyo

These new custom properties allow you to segment customers based on active, canceled, or expired subscriptions using the product titles associated with those subscriptions.



With this level of customization, you can send highly customized and relevant messages to different groups of customers. For instance, you can send special offers or re-engagement campaigns to customers with canceled or expired subscriptions, while sending product updates to those with active subscriptions. This can lead to higher engagement and conversion.

New Klaviyo Custom Property: Segment customers with active, canceled or expired subscriptions based on SKU

These new custom properties allow you to segment customers based on their active, canceled, or expired subscriptions using the associated SKU. 



This custom property enables you to send tailored marketing campaigns to different customer segments. By using the SKU associated with each subscription, you can send product recommendations related to the subscription. 

You must be using the Shopify Checkout Integration to use these custom properties.

Access a running log of all store events with the new Events API resource

All merchants on the Pro plan or higher can now use the all-new Events API resource to fetch a read-only running log for all events on a store within the last 7 days. 



Uses of this resource include but are not limited to:

  • Data synchronization
  • Advanced troubleshooting and
  • Recovery if webhook receivers experience short-term failure

  • Reduce costs by removing the need for servers in order to send customer notifications via Shopify when payment method needs to be updated
  • Build a custom subscription widget or more with the ability to fetch one or all products/plans using Product CDN data and
  • Enable search functionality by retrieving products/plans data from your catalog via flexible query parameters
