New Early Adopter Program - Recharge Cart Drawer & Cart Overlay

We're excited to introduce early access to Recharge Cart Drawer and Recharge Cart Overlay, two powerful features designed to enhance upsell opportunities and improve the shopping experience for merchants and customers alike.



Recharge Cart Overlay

The Cart Overlay allows customers to seamlessly upgrade a one-time purchase to a subscription before reaching the cart. This feature is designed to drive higher subscription adoption with minimal friction for customers.

Recharge Cart Drawer

The Cart Drawer is a fully Recharge-owned and managed cart experience. This feature will support upselling by enabling one-time purchases to be converted into subscriptions directly in the cart. 

Recharge's cart options are available for Shopify stores using a Shopify 2.0 theme. You can request enablement through this form.

Follow-on offers for Post-purchase Cross-sells

We've released a new feature that allows you to add a follow-on offer to your Post-Purchase Cross-sell. This means that after the first cross-sell has been accepted or declined, you can entice your customers with an additional offer.



Some strategies we recommend with this feature are:

- Offer the same product with a steeper discount

- Offer a different product that complements their initial purchase

- Offer the same product they checked out with (increasing the quantity)

- Offer a gift card to the store at a discount

You can also use our new analytics table to assess the impact, and we've added the ability to copy and paste node configurations to make setup faster. Learn more now by taking a look at our help doc.

Smart select now available for Checkout Cross-sell

You can now use Smart select to cross-sell products at checkout. This feature intelligently recommends additional products based on the items already in the customer's cart, minimizing your setup time and increasing the chances of successful conversion.


Smart select is now available for all merchants using Checkout Cross-sell and can be selected during the flow creation process - please see our help docs for more information.

New and Improved Subscription Widget Now Available for All Shopify Stores

The new Subscription Widget is now accessible to all Shopify merchants, bringing an improved subscription experience directly within Recharge. All stores now have access to the Subscription Widget along with base analytics to track performance.


If you were previously using our Subscription Widget, you may have noticed a major change—the settings for this feature are now located in Recharge instead of Shopify. This shift allows us to introduce more features in the future and provide deeper insights into your widget’s performance.

Pro and Custom stores gain additional benefits, including A/B testing for optimizing conversions and more detailed analytics for deeper insights.

Upsell All line items at checkout

Merchants that use Checkout Upsell can now choose to Upsell all line items at once - and it's mobile-friendly 🎉 



This update:

  • Greatly improves visibility for mobile traffic, as the app block can be placed at the top of the page
  • Highlights the potential savings if converted of all line items, encouraging customers to make the move
  • Reduces the number of clicks - just one to make all eligible items a subscription

A/B testing now available for Post-purchase Cross-sell

We've added an A/B test node to our Post-purchase Cross-sell flow - allowing you to offer two different cross-sells incentives. See which cross-sell is more popular post-checkout, and use our Analytics to see which performs better. 


Experiment with A/B tests such as:

- Cross-selling a different product or variant
- Offering a different discount amount on the same product
- Testing the response to different subscription types (one-time or subscription)
- Offering free or paid shipping on the cross-sell

Site builder with WYSIWYG Editing Available when Customizing Upsell and Cross-sell App Blocks

We've added a site builder with WYSIWYG editing to the Checkout Upsell and Cross-sell editing experience. 


This update enables merchants to edit their text directly in real-time, removing the need to switch between input and preview modes. It improves consistency across our Flows offering, and makes customizing faster and more intuitive.

Cart subtotal now available as a trigger condition for Post-Purchase Cross-sell

Merchants can now use the cart subtotal as a trigger condition is Post-Purchase Cross-sell flows.


The cart subtotal is the order value before shipping and taxes are added. This enhancement allows merchants to offer different cross-sells based on the order value. 

This allows the use of strategies such as:

  • Presenting an offer that aligns with the value of the original order. Higher value order = higher value offer.
  • Aligning the cross-sell with the customer's free shipping eligibility - for example, offering a more enticing offer when the shipping has already been paid for - but accepting the post-purchase offer would have made them eligible for free shipping

Post-purchase Cross-sell now supports Shop Pay

Customers checking out with Shop Pay can now see post-purchase offers! 


Previously, when customers checked out using Shop Pay, the post-purchase offer page was skipped. As a result, fewer customers saw post-purchase offers, even if they met the trigger conditions. 

Customers checking out with Shop Pay can now see post-purchase offers. Shop Pay accounts for 20–50% of checkout traffic for many brands, making this update a significant improvement for store's providing post-purchase offers to their customers.

Time Delay node now available in Upcoming Order Cross-Sell

In Upcoming order cross-sell, merchants can can now drag the "Time Delay" node after the trigger (or at the beginning of a branch).


We've gotten feedback that merchants want to delay the cross-sell and notification. Without the time delay node, we would make the cross-sell offer and send the notification immediately after the triggering charge is processed. This leads customers to believe that when they accept the one-time offer, the added one-time will show up in the order that was just processed. However, the one-time will be added to their next queued order.

With the time delay node, merchants can delay until the customer receives their triggering order before creating the cross-sell offer and notifying the customer. This way, shoppers don't get as confused, and they more easily understand when the one-time is expected to be delivered (with their next order).
